I'm happiest when I'm expressing myself or creating something. Up until August last year I was leading a team of wonderful women on a path to their healthiest selves through nutrition, exercise and mind set and I can honestly say it was the most rewarding and beautiful journey of my life. It brought out the best version of me, a side of me that I knew I had but never had the guts to pursue before 2016. I've always had a strong sense of feeling like I was put on this earth to help people. Everybody has that one thing that makes them feel alive, something that makes them light up from the inside out just from thinking about doing it. Maria Christinara Nutrition allowed me to connect with like-minded people and help them through what I am most passionate about, and also let me have my own little 'thing', a project in which I could call my own and put all my energy into. I loved nothing more than coming home from work, opening my laptop and putting together programmes for my clients, creating content for my Instagram and Facebook page and trialling out recipes. I absolutely loved it. Which leads me on to why I've started this blog.
I hit a wall not so long ago - I felt underchallenged, lacklustre and like I wasn't using my spare time very well. I stopped nutrition coaching just over a year ago to focus on my 9-5 career and personal life (I moved to a new city, started studying again and changed jobs in the space of a month.) This occupied me up until recently, now I've got the qualification I was studying for and I'm settled into my new life in the new city. I'm so happy and content but there was just this one thing that's been missing which was my need for a creative outlet. And so, the thought 'What can I do next?' has been creeping up on me. I've never been the type to finish my day at work, come home and sit in front of the TV for the rest of the evening and be satisfied with that being my life. I like to be busy and I knew I'd resume coaching again at some point, but I feel like I wanted to add something else into the mix.
From a young age I have always loved writing, my earliest memory was in infants school where I used to write fictional stories about fairies and dragons in a land far away, I often used to sit and gaze out the window while the other kids played outside and I stayed sat in the classroom writing in my school book daydreaming about my little fantasy world. I remember it like it was yesterday. As I got a bit older I used to fill A4 notebooks cover to cover with song lyrics I'd made up whilst playing my keyboard, and at the age of 19 I published a book about my Mum (proudest achievement of my life). So writing has always been my thing and a big part of who I am, my form of escapism if you will. I could literally sit for hours at a time with pen to paper, once I start I find it hard to stop. Since setting this website up I have already written 6 posts waiting to go live in my drafts! I am obsessed! It's the most natural flow of energy for me to express myself through written words.
If there's something that you really want to do whether its trying a new hobby or a new hairstyle, a new job or a new home - no matter how crazy or unreachable you think it may be, my advice to you is to just go for it. I'm a big believer in that if deep down inside of you is really pulling you towards a certain something, then that is what you are made to do and that's probably what you're going to be your best at doing. Your passions and interests aren't there by chance, they reveal your truest and most authentic self and they are your calling. I've been wanting to start my own blog for so long now but I kept putting it off because of silly excuses I kept allowing into my head. But time waits for nobody and if it sets your soul on fire then its absolutely worth taking the risk. So just go for it! Take tiny baby steps if you have to, but make sure you are taking those steps. Every single day - write it down, set yourself reminders, plan, build up your self belief and go with whatever your heart and intuition is telling you to do. What's the worst that could happen?...

I wanted to create a space where not only could I demonstrate my passion for writing, but so I could express myself as a woman in her late 20's, trying to carve her way through this rollercoaster called life. I want this website to be about love, positivity, health, empowerment and honesty. I hope somewhere along the way I can help you, make you laugh, inspire you or just be your Saturday morning accompaniment to go with your cup of coffee.
Thank you for reading
